Masters of Science in Secondary Education: UW-River Falls
Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science: UW-River Falls
First year with Aquinas Catholic Schools
5 years total teaching experience
I graduated from Westby High School in 2000 and attended UW-River Falls with the intention of moving back to my family's farm in Genoa, WI and farming with my father after graduation. Along the way, I became interested in things outside of agriculture. I spent a year after finishing my bachelor's degree studying Genetics at the University of Minnesota before I decided to make the shift from science to social studies and become a teacher.
Since getting my teaching degree, I have taught at five different schools in the Twin Cities and the La Crosse area. I am very excited to start at Aquinas High School this year and have the opportunity to teach high level social studies content to classes that are smaller than those I have taught in public schools. I have already been impressed with the collegiality and family-friendly atmosphere that I have experienced at Aquinas.
My wife Jackie (who teaches third grade at Blessed Sacrament) and I have one son, Henry who will some day be a student within the Aquinas system. We do live on the dairy farm that I grew up on in Genoa, WI and I spend most of my summer and off-school hours taking care of 120 acres of cropland and 60 head of dairy cattle.
