This course is a comprehensive study of the history of the United States from the post civil war era to contemporary events. In addition to the solid factual foundation, the emphasis is on the analysis of major personalities, formative events, controversial issues and significant movements that have shaped our nation.
This course deals with the structure and function of the national and state governments of the United States. Included is a study of the development of our political system, elections, Congress, the Presidency and the Federal Court system. Constitutional law with an emphasis on the First Amendment, civil, criminal, family and consumer law will also be examined. Students will be given the opportunity to understand the impact of the law on their lives.
